Mindfulness: Feel Better

Mindfulness is a PRACTICE

of being as fully as possible

in the present moment,

from a place of curiosity and kindness

towards your experience.

There is no way to fail at mindfulness practice.

There’s no way to be bad at it.

We simply try it and experiment with it

Over and over.

Letting go of judgement.

The more we do that, the easier it gets.

Mindfulness is presence.

In these modern times, life moves very fast.

Our minds and our bodies become overstimulated and burn out, leading to experiences of stress and overwhelm. Inside it can feel like waves of conflicting forces clashing against one another.

Mindfulness practice brings us into the moment.

We access the present moment by anchoring our awareness in our breath, our bodies, and our changing moment-to-moment physical sensations.

If most of our stress comes from getting caught by worries about the past or the future, mindfulness gives us the refuge of the present, which offers us a peaceful shore to relax on, where our nervous systems can calm. Our stress is reduced as our sense of well-being is enhanced.

Mindfulness is kind awareness.

Inside all of us, we carry the remnants of our child selves in our thought memories, our beliefs about ourselves, our emotional responses to other people.

Growing up, most of us receive extensive training on how to be very harsh, critical, and unforgiving towards ourselves.

Mindfulness invites us to learn a new way of attending to ourselves and all of those inner experiences we have. Mindfulness practice teaches us to welcome ourselves exactly as we are, and doing so, we learn to hear what our inner experiences have to teach us.
